Anagrams, nth Term and Stratified Sampling
During the past few months I've also being trying to develop my own maths skills. It's always good to keep learning new things; education doesn't stop as you get older, and keeping your mind active is important.
The problem is there has been a huge explosion in online and offline courses. Some of them are very good, but it's difficult to understand what each is offering. 'Free' doesn't always mean 'worthwhile,' generic videos don't always get the message across, the smiley face at the beginning can dissolve into meaningless promises, with no deliverable results.
At FCL we're aiming to offer the very best level of support. Step by step, national curriculum materials, specific marking and motivational feedback, independent working, one to one or small groups - everything we can do to support our excellent students :-)
Key Stage 2 (years 3 - 6)
The Saturday SATS class continues to be well attended, and a HUGE thank you for your support and hard work.
I thought it would be good to offer some anagrams this week ... they've always been very popular, and here's a worksheet for you to try :-)
Key Stage 3 (years 7 - 9)
Many KS3 students are working through some fairly focussed topic materials; there's around 80 to learn for GCSE, and it can sometimes be a little overwhelming.
Always take your time, ask if not sure, and check your calculations.
Here's a useful (non calculator) worksheet, answers and video walkthrough on nth term - sometimes called sequences.
Key Stage 4 (years 10 - 11)
Stratified sampling is a topic that only appears infrequently in GCSE papers, although it's very useful for all sorts of statistical analysis.
Please do visit 3minutemaths.co.uk for GCSE preparation, and let me know if you need any support. There's quite a few topic tests, exam walkthroughs, questions, answers ....
Have a great week

PS. And finally ....
What do you call a dinosaur with a brilliant vocabulary?
A thesaurus.
