During the past few months I've made a concious effort to feedback on completed work. Rather than just a series of 'right / wrong' ticks, I wanted to add a little more encouragement, a sense of direction, demonstrate areas for improvement - and put the student at the very centre of everything we do.
Each week there's generally good writing .... but here's an exceptional introductory paragraph from Krish (year 8!):
"Hello and welcome. Today you'll be learning to cook your own stew. Magical. The Broomstick Belles are well known in the witching world for their creative, cruelty - free cauldron cookery. Here is how to make one of their dishes from the bestselling 'Witches Cottage Cookbook' - I know you are going to love it. It's called the Enchantment Stew."
Krish then continues with a highly detailed, well written, incredibly creative recipe that could easily be part of a published book. Fantastic work!
Key Stage 2 (2nd to 5th Grade)
Thank you to those students who worked through last week's dictionary exercise.
Back to maths, and here's some reasonably challenging calculation problems, aimed at year 6 SATS - although they could be useful for years 4 & 5.
Key Stage 3 (6th to 8th Grade)
'Angles in parallel lines' is quite a common non calculator geometry topic - and can be worth good marks on an exam paper.
Here's a walkthrough video, worksheet and answers to practice, or get ahead of next year's study.
Key Stage 4 (9th and 10th Grade)
Another common GCSE topic is 'probability trees.' These are usually fairly straightforward but, as with quite a lot of maths, it's reading and understanding the question.
Try these and please do let me know if you need any support, ideas, thoughts or pointing in the right direction.
Have a great week

PS. And finally:
The world record for counting to 1 million, is 89 days. Jeremy Harper holds the Guiness World Record for counting to one million. He live-streamed the whole process, spending 16 hours per day counting aloud, and 8 hours for eating and sleeping.
