Maths, Line Segments & YouTube
As mentioned a few weeks ago, it's been interesting to revisit some older blog posts that have prompted new subscribers.
Here's 'what use is a quadratic equation?' - I'm sure that question has been asked by many students (!). It's probably due a rewrite ... and I might attempt a few other topics. Either way, always interested in feedback, thoughts, ideas and comments.
Honourable Mentions ... to all the Year 6's who have completed their SATS. There's been some exceptional results, and it's good to hear students are looking forward to high school. Many have already met their year 7 teachers, completed visits and made friends - it's an exciting time, and great to see the enthusiasm as students move on.
Key Stage 2
We've been working through quite a range of English materials during the past few weeks .... so, here's some tricky maths problems:
Krishna buys a skateboard for £13.36. He pays with a £20 note. How much change does he receive?
The soup kitchen serves 200 bowls of soup. Each bowl holds 300ml. How much soup is served in litres?
The local cinema are running a buy two tickets, get one free offer. Tickets cost £3.60 each. How much would 27 tickets cost altogether?
Joel has 2 boxes of 33 bananas, 4 boxes of 27 apples and 5 boxes of 12 pineapples. How many pieces of fruit does Joel have altogether?
Key Stage 3
'Line segments' is really just an extension of Pythagoras questions.
Here's a worksheet that might be useful to work through ... you never know, they might be in your next exam :-)
Key Stage 4
Thank you to those students who worked through last weeks indices question, it was quite tricky.
Here's a slightly less challenging SohCahToa - maybe?
All very best

PS. What do you call a magical dog? A labracadabrador.
PPS.There's been quite a few videos posted to the YouTube channel recently and, to keep the algorithm happy during the summer, I'd be delighted if you could add a 'like' to any that you, er, like:
