SATS, Ratio and Controversy
We're delighted to work with some incredibly committed students, and it's a real pleasure to see them. Interestingly - despite the tuition centre being closed this week - we've seen an increase in requests for more materials. While that's certainly understandable for those taking national exams, it seems that a good number of students are taking the opportunity to get ahead.
That's great - as we move into the summer, it's an ideal time to revise the previous academic year, and prepare for the next. Although please relax and enjoy the weather also!
Thank you to everyone who has visited my Substack - I've been adding posts .... offering an easy to use, searchable, archive for previous newsletters.
Any thoughts, comments or ideas gratefully received :-)
Key Stage 2 (2nd to 5th Grade)
Isn't it time we did some more maths? Here's a link to a new SATS quiz - please do let me know how you get on :-)
Key Stage 3 (6th to 8th Grade)
Ratio questions continue to be a popular choice on - pretty much - every exam. Here's a worksheet to test your skills.
Top Tips!
Always try to work down the page
Remember that ratios can be multiplied or divided only, to get their equivalent
Try to find the number of ‘parts’
Key Stage 4 (9th and 10th Grade)
Just for a change, here's a topic question, that might be based on some interesting observations. This article suggests that, in an exam, students could lose marks due to poor handwriting, so:
'Should students be allowed to type their responses to exam questions?'
Write an article, around 4 - 500 words, with your views :-)
Have a great week

PS. And finally, the joke of the day:
Why can’t your nose be twelve inches long?
Because then it would be a foot.
