The English Edition
Would you choose maths as a career?
For some students, it's far too early to be asking that question. There's many years of education ahead, and future careers may not have been invented. Amazing technologies are being developed, and we've every reason to be optimistic about future employment.
With many of our students, there's a definite potential to be the ones who shape the future. Perhaps their skill is in maths, English, art, history or design - whatever it is, it's important to keep developing expertise - and now is a good time to start.
Key Stage 2 (years 3 - 6)
Synonyms will made a huge difference to your written work. Rather than 'big' try using enormous, gigantic, collosal, monumentous or massive. Here's a worksheet to practice this key skill.
Key Stage 3 (years 7 - 9)
Here's an interesting 45 minute / 25 mark assignment:
Write a list of 5 things you think everyone should do before they are 21 years of age. For each item on your list, write a paragraph supporting your reasons.
Use persuasive language and back up your points with evidence. Remember to check your spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Key Stage 4 (years 10 - 11)
Finished with quadratics for a little while? Yep?
Here's an English GCSE 45 minute / 25 mark assignment to get you thinking:
Your school is preparing publicity material for a foreign student exchange programme. Write a description of your school that would inform prospective visitors of the amenities and activities on offer.
Have a great week
Simon D
PS. And finally, the joke of the day:
Is it just me, or are circles pointless?
